The Burguret route is one of the less trekked routes on Mt. Kenya. It requires advance permission from the Kenya Wildlife Service before one can go up the mountain via the Burguret route.

Main features of the Burguret route
It approaches the mountain from the West not far from the Naro Moru route.
It has no established park gate therefore. All park formalities, paper work, receipts and payments are made at another national park gate.
The trek through the bamboo forest at the start of the route. Usually requires the park guides to find the route through the forest. Especially if the route hasn’t been used in the recent days prior to your trek.
This route is rarely used because of its lack of amenities and route finding, but on the other hand, the same reasons attract the selected few to this route.
Accommodation is available at designated camping sites like the Kampi ya Machengeni, Highland Castle, Elephant camp and Kampi ya Farasi, and Shipton’s camp on descent.
Outstanding features on this route include its untamed vegetation and environment, Oblong tarn and Hausberg col on descent via another route.
