Glaciers on Mount Kenya: Yes, Mount Kenya has glaciers and the mountain is a key tourist attraction to travelers who come to hike it, not only to summit to its peaks but to also see the glaciers. Unfortunately, these glaciers are reportedly melting away at an alarming speed with experts predicting them to be extinct in the next 2-3 decades.

Glaciers on Mount Kenya:
There are about 10 glaciers remaining on Mt. Kenya, the main ones named below.
Lewis Glacier: This is the most known glacier on the mountain and the largest too. They the most monitored and surveyed glacier on the mountain. It is situated on the North Eastern slopes of Mt. Kenya.
Tyndall Glacier: This is the 2nd largest glacier on Mt. Kenya. It is located on the South-South East part of the mountain.
Diamond Glacier: Situated just below Point Lenana (South Western slopes) on Mt. Kenya. The Diamond glacier is the 3rd largest glacier on the mountain.
Other glaciers include the Northey glacier, Darwin glacier, Forel glacier, Josey glacier and Heim glacier.
The first glacier to disappear from Mt. Kenya was the Krapt glacier.
The melting snow during the summer is far more that the snow that accumulates during the winter making it hard for the glaciers to form up.
