MOUNT KENYA CHOGORIA ROUTE CLIMBING HIGHLIGHTS

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Depart Nairobi to Chogoria Gate
Early morning departure from Nairobi city and drive to Chogoria town where you will arrive in the afternoon in time for lunch. Later on, head to the parks’ gate complete the formalities and into the bamboo forest you go starting off your 6-day Mt. Kenya climbing adventure leading to your first stop at Mt. Kenya Bandas, overnight at Chogoria gate camp.
Day 2: Chogoria gate to Lake Ellis Camp
Taking it slow, one step at a time, you continue your climb up Mt. Kenya trekking by the scenic Lake Ellis with stunning views of the Giant Billiards table, Mugi and Ithanguni. Stop for a picnic lunch by the stream and later continue to Lake Ellis camp for the night.
Day 3: Lake Ellis Camp to Mintos Camp
Trek off the beaten track today as you hike to Mintos camp where you will spend your 3rd night. You will be blessed with beautiful and stunning views of the Gorges valley and North moorlands. You will at the camp in the afternoon, relax hang around the camp at leisure or you can take a walk to the “temple”, a vertical cliff that is about 150 meters.
Day 4: Mintos Camp to Austrian Camp
Continue your climb today, trekking at the foot of huge rock walls with amazing views of Mt. Kenya from the top of the rocks. From tooth col. You will continue your ascent to Austrian camp for an overnight. Keep your climb support crew engaged the entire time you are on the mountain.
Day 5: Hiker’s summit day. Austrian Camp to Point Lenana to Liki North Camp
Final attempt to the summit which you will take on early morning before sunrise so that you can catch the beautiful sunrise while at the top on Lenana point. 4,985 meters above sea level. Spend some good minutes here before you start your descent off Mt. Kenya with a stop at Shipton’s camp for a delicious breakfast and a brief rest. Continue via Mackinder’s valley up to Liki North camp where you will spend the night reminiscing about your just concluded accomplishment.
Day 6: Liki North Camp to Nairobi
Continue your descent to the base of the mountain. Here your Kenya safari guide will be waiting to drive you back to Nairobi city.
