MOUNT KENYA TREK VIA SIRIMON ROUTE: Summit Mt. Kenya on one of the most popular and most manageable routes as it has a gradual ascent. It has a beautiful diverse scenery making the hike up the mountain oh so enjoyable. Recommended for beginners too.

MOUNT KENYA TREK VIA SIRIMON ROUTE HIGHLIGHTS
- Day 1: Nairobi pick up – Sirimon Gate (2,650m) to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
- Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton Camp (4,200m)
- Day 3: Shipton camp to Lenana Point (4,985m) and Descent to Sirimon gate
Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi pick up – Sirimon Gate (2,650m) to Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Hiking time: 3-4 hours
You will be picked from Nairobi and embark on a scenic drive to Mt. Kenya national park with a brief stopover at the Equator. You will then procced to Nanyuki town where you will have your lunch before driving to Sirimon gate where you will start your trek to Lenana point from. Continue your ascent through the montane forest into the heath as you arrive at Old Moses camp where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp to Shipton Camp (4,200m)
Hiking time: 6-7 hours
Post breakfast, continue your hike through the moorland zone with clear views of peaks and surrounding valleys. Along the way, you will cross Otulili River, Liki North as you continue climbing up to Mackinder’s valley with chances of spotting wildlife and great panoramic views. Later in the day, arrive at Shipton camp for an overnight.
Day 3: Shipton camp to Lenana Point (4,985m) and Descent to Sirimon gate
Summit day. As early as 2 or 3:00am, after a cup of hot tea and some snacks. Get ahold of your hiking poles and switch on your headlamps. Then one step at a time, begin your final ascent to Lenana summit. After a satisfying time spent at the summit, you will start your descent from the mountain with a stop at Shipton camp for breakfast and after continue to Old Moses camp for lunch and departure back to Nairobi.
