Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nairobi
The company safari guide will pick you from Jomo Kenyatta airport upon arrival and drive you to your hotel in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya where you will spend your first night. Depending on your time of arrival in Kenya, you can go on and tour the Nairobi city that strikes a balance between the urban life and wildlife conservation.
Places you can visit include the Giraffe center, the Elephant orphanage, Nairobi national park, the national museum, Karen Blixen Museum, the art galleries, craft shops and more.
Day 2: Drive to Maasai Mara national reserve
Post breakfast at your Nairobi city hotel, the safari guide will drive you to the most famous national park in Kenya, Maasai Mara national reserve. Famously known as the home of the great wildebeest migration in Kenya, Maasai Mara offers thrilling wildlife viewing experiences.
Reach the park in the afternoon, have lunch n embark of a late afternoon game drive. By sunset, you drive to your safari camp / lodge for an overnight.
Day 3: Maasai Mara full day exploration
Wake up and explore the amazing wilderness of Maasai Mara national reserve. Game drives at different times of the day (preferably the cooler hours of the day) provide maximum game viewing and sighting chances. Be sure to come across wildebeests, elephants, black maned lions, zebras, giraffes, gazelles, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs among others and different bird species.
Day 4: Transfer to Mt. Kenya national park
Depart Maasai Mara early in the morning. Hit the road on a long day’s drive to Mt. Kenya national park. A brief stopover in Nairobi for some little shopping. Then you continue to Mt. Kenya national park checking in at your chosen accommodation in one of the towns at the base of the mountain for an overnight.
Day 5-9: Climbing Mount Kenya to Lenana point (4,985m)
Spend these next 5 days of 10-day safari on Mt. Kenya. You will summit the 2nd highest mountain in the world via the Chogoria-Sirimon route. The scenic route will have you ascend the mountain via the Chogoria route and ascend via the beautiful Sirimon route. Going through the different vegetation zones of the mountain as you climb up. Take note of your surroundings for scenic views and some wildlife sightings. Nights will be spent at Mt. Kenya bandas, Lake Eliss campsite, Minto’s camp, Austrian camp, Liki North camp / Mackinders camp. Reach Lenana point on day 8. Spend day 9 at the base of the Mt. Kenya in Nanyuki town.
Day 10: Departure to Nairobi
After your breakfast, the safari driver will pick you up. Drive you back to Nairobi to your hotel of to the airport for your home bound flight.
